Roman Tent 3 m x 3 m – Leather

A historical tent used by roman legions. One tent was issued to each Contubernium, the smallest tactical unit of the roman army. Most sources including archaeological findings and iconography indicate that the tents of Roman legionaries were made of goatskins. According to reports, 8 to 10 people lived in a standard tent, of which 2 were constantly on guard, so in practice 6 to 8 people would sleep at any given time. Sources also state that after the changes made by Gaius Marius one mule was dedicated for transporting such a tent.

Interestingly, in the German army of the Second World War, a tent made of triangular sheets, so-called Zelt, had 4 people, three of whom slept and one was on guard. Grosse Stabszelt is amazingly similar to the Roman Tabernacle.

This model is made of leather as standard. The historical tent can be adapted to individual preferences. We also paint tents with historical motifs. A linen canvas version is also available.

Tabernakulum is 3 m wide, 3 m long and 2.2 m high. The main poles are made of hardwood like ash, beech or similar. Long elements are divided for easier transport, the longest element is 1.3 m long.
