Pourpoint gambeson

Pourpoint gambeson is an arming cloth worn under chain mail. The pourpoint is made up of three layers:

• Outer layer – linen
• Filling – 100% cotton
• Lining – linen

Based on the Pourpoint gambeson of Charles de Blois with characteristic grande assiette sleeves. Dated 1364.

Freedom of movement has been achieved by varying the fill layers in different parts of the Pourpoint gambeson .

• The trunk has six layers,
• the sleeves have four layers
• forearms have eight layers.

All fabric layers are quilted together. The pourpoint is fastened with a row of buttons.  The standard version has no attachments for armour parts and is made of natural linen. By special request it can be made of brocade silk like in the picture.

It weighs approximately 2 kg
