Medieval gambeson – Economical – Squire

The aketon is made up of three layers:

• Outer layer – linen
• Filling -100% cotton
• Lining – linen

This medieval gambeson”Squire” is traditionally styled using medieval iconography. It has been designed to be practical in battle. It provides excellent freedom of movement as well as a high level of protection.

Freedom of movement has been achieved by varying the fill layers in different parts of the garment.

• torso four layers
• sleeves four layers
• shoulders six layers

The high collar gives good neck protection. Medieval gambeson “Squire” has five pairs of holes at the front which can be used for threading points when fastening. The standard version has no attachments for armour parts. By special request it can be designed to be fastened with five bronze buckles.

The aketon weighs approximately 2 kg.
