Gambeson Type 2

Arming cloth worn under chain mail. The gambeson is made up of three layers:
Outer layer – linen or leather
Filling – 100% cotton
Lining – linen

This gambeson is traditionally styled using medieval iconography and has also been developed to be practical in battle. It provides excellent freedom of movement as well as a high level of protection.
Freedom of movement has been achieved by varying the fill layers in different parts of the garment. Thus, the trunk has eight layers, the sleeves and collar have six layers and the arms have ten layers. The high collar gives good neck protection. All fabric layers are stitched together. The gambeson has five pairs of holes at the front which can be used for threading points when fastening. It weighs approximately 3kg. The standard version has no attachments for armour parts. By special request it can be designed to be fastened with five bronze buckles.
