Arming cloth worn under armour or without any additional protection.
The aketon is made up of three layers:
Outer layer – linen
Filling -100% cotton
Lining – linen
This aketon is traditionally made using medieval iconography.
This type was especially popular in late 15th century and can be seen on Memling`s paintings. It has been developed to be practical in combat and as such it provides excellent freedom of movement as well as a high level of protection.
Freedom of movement has been achieved by varying the padding thickness of layers in different parts of the garment. Thus, the trunk, sleeves and collar have five layers and the arms have seven layers. The high collar gives good neck protection. The aketon weighs approximately 2kg. The aketon has five pairs of holes at the front which can be used for threading points when fastening. The sleeves have long slit from wrist to elbow and they are fastened with 4 points. The standard version has no attachements for armour parts. By special request it can be designed to be fastened with five bronze buckles.
