A fifteenth-century doublet wadded with sheep’s wool with puffed shoulders – a slightly more impressive version of the basic element of clothing in the Middle Ages and later centuries.

A doublet made in the style from the second half of the 15th century. TIghtly fitting. The doublet is padded with sheep’s fleece on the chest to emphasize the male figure – it was a popular procedure at that time. The basques in the doublet have been shortened compared to the earlier versions of this outfit. The doublet has tight sleeves with a delicate cut at the wrist, fastened with hand-made material buttons – it also has impressive buffs stuffed with sheep wool. It has a low collar, cut at the back in gothic “V”.

In the Middle Ages, it was made mostly made of woolen cloth with linen lining. This element of the dress was the basis of the attire in the Middle Ages but also in the seventeenth century

  • Like most doublets, it has holes for attaching the hose – all of them are trimmed by hand.
  • The doublet has a natural linen lining and five pairs of lacing on the front as standard.
  • Doublet available in standard sizes, as well as tailor made.
  • Offered wool colors are in the footer of the page. Please specify it at the end of the order.

Like all our clothing it can be hand or machine stiched. However, we always follow the principle to finish visible elements manually.

The proprietary name we use is only our trade name because such doublets were worn in many regions of Europe.
