This model and shape is the most commonly depicted in Maciejowski Bible. Made of 2mm hardened steel. Fully battle ready. Product made by one of the best Polish armourers. The complex and scrupulous process of production takes time. However it has a direct result in high quality. It takes about six months for our armourer to fulfil an order.
Barrel helmet (another name: great helm) was used between XII and XIV by european chivarly. It was very well head’s protection. It’s disadvantages were little view and not very well breathing. It had influence on using barrel helmet only in horse combat in battle and tournaments. It was wearing on padded cap or it could have inside helmet lining.
Available model is based on Maciejowski Bible (sometimes called Morgan Bible). It is XIII century French manuscript. It shows various type of weapons in realistic way. Many reenactors weapons based on this source. Barrel helmet made in Maciejowski Bible type can be the best part of crusade time knight’s armour.
